Los Angeles City Hall was completed in 1928, is the center of the government of the city of Los Angeles. It houses the mayor's office and the meeting chambers and offices of the Los Angeles City Council. The construction started in 1926 in an Art Deco, Neoclassical architecture. It has 27 floors. City Hall stands both as a monument to the era of its creation and as an example of architectural preservation at its best.

In an invited architectural competition for the project in 2010, six architects were asked to present preliminary designs. Diller Scofidio + Renfro were eventually chosen to design the approximately 120,000-square-foot museum, which includes exhibition space, offices and a parking garage.
The museum was opened on September 20, 2015.
The Broad houses a nearly 2,000-piece collection of contemporary art, featuring 200 artists, including works by Cindy Sherman, Jeff Koons, Ed Ruscha, Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol, the latter including a 1963 "Single Elvis". The Broads suggested in 2015 that it was acquiring the "Single Elvis" which sent the price of pop art to unprecedented levels. With currently 129 pieces, the museum owns the largest collection of Cindy Sherman works worldwide.
The organ is opus 75 of Dobson Pipe Organ Builders of Lake City, Iowa, and is a 105 rank 4 manual instrument that incorporates pipes from the 1929 Wangerin organ of St. Vibiana's Cathedral. Dobson's Opus 75 has a total of 6,019 pipes. It is the 89th largest pipe organ in North America and the 143rd largest in the world. The organ case is approximately 60 feet high, and is located approximately 24 feet above the floor. To meet earthquake-stability requirements, the pipes and case are supported by a massive internal steel frame.
The market occupies the lower levels of two old buildings. The 1897 Homer Laughlin Building was designed as the first steel-reinforced structure in Los Angeles, and the 1905 Laughlin Annex or Lyon was home to an office for Frank Lloyd Wright.
When the market opened, racial segregation was rampant in downtown Los Angeles. Bunker Hill, now a site of skyscrapers and museums, was, at the time, a place for wealthy white families who wanted to live close to the city center but be separated from the rest of the multi-ethnic community. The funicular connected Bunker Hill with Hill Street below, and by 1917, white grocery vendors moved to the newly built Grand Central Market to serve families on the hill.
By the eighties, the market began to take on a much more ethnically diverse look, with Central American, Mexican, and Chinese vendors.
Nancy Rubins' monumental stainless steel sculpture "Mark Thompson's Airplane Parts" was purchased by MOCA in honor of founding member Beatrice Gersh in 2002 and was installed in the museum plaza. The Grand Avenue location is used to display pieces from MOCA's important permanent collection, especially artists who did much of their work between 1940 and 1980. There is also an extensive set of rooms that are used to display temporary exhibits.
